Seniors Are Ready For The Next Step Thanks To Work Based Learning
Another year of Work Based Learning has come to an end. Once again CSAT was able to provide its students with a number of shadows, tours, internships, and events that assisted them with becoming a more valuable and better educated employee.
Approximately 40 students completed between 54-108 hours between September and May of this year. Students had the chance to learn more about required financial reports, taking vitals, interacting with special needs students, develop better patient communication skills, create and put together an art exhibit, Computer Aided Drawing, and so many other skills that they can build upon and reference as they enter college and the world of work. As the school year winds down, they were able to celebrate as they received their certificate of completion.
Special thanks goes to the following businesses for hosting our students: CSAT Art, Music, and Financial departments, Saia Hall, CSAT Greenhouse, Keller Technology, Winning Smiles, Tops Friendly Markets, Albright Knox AK Teens, Hyatt Regency, Mash Urgent Care, Summit Resource Center, Army Corps of Engineers, Heritage Center, Buffalo Hearing and Speech, 10 Lives Club, Sisters and Children's Hospitals, Sheridan Animal Hospital, LP Ciminelli, Buffalo Scaffolding, and so many others. Students were able to acquire their OSHA Card thanks to the Construction Exchange and CPR/AED Certification thanks to CSAT.
New for next year, Middle School students will be visiting local colleges and companies to gain a better understanding of the careers and industries on the rise in our area. CSAT will continue to improve upon our Career Touches program, our first pathway, the Business Pathway will be starting, and we will continue to develop and introduce our other Pathway programs.
