Cafeteria Chats With Eileen Buckley
On Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 a group of young CHSAT males and females got a chance to get interviewed by Eileen Buckley of WBFO 88.7FM about what it is like to be a young adult in today's society. This event took place in CHSAT's lunch room.
The reason why Ms. Buckley did this was for the world to hear directly from today's teenagers perspective on what it's like to be a teenager today. This gave students the chance to explain some of the problems that they have experienced about classroom challenges, bullying, time management, working and school schedules, social media issues, cyberbullying, friendships, etc.
WBFO plans to visit different schools throughout WNY this school year and stage the "Cafeteria Chats" with current students. They encourage all students that participate in this to share their thoughts about challenges they face at school, work, in their neighborhoods, etc. All of these informal chats that came from those students will be produced for on-air radio reports and unique web content that highlights all of the students comments.
I, senior and author of this article, Roman Laney, participated in this event. The experience was fascinating and I enjoyed spending time with Eileen Buckley while we were recording. Based off of her questions she was very curious about the challenges that us high school students go through as young adults in this world. Once we expressed ourselves about what young adults go through daily, Ms. Buckley was very understanding about what we go through. It was a fabulous experience in all to be able to get the chance to speak with Ms. Buckley of WBFO 88.7 and it was nice to meet her as well.
