13 Reasons Why Season 2 Premiers in Conjunction with Mental Health Awareness Month
On Friday, May 18, Netflix will release season 2 of the fictional drama series 13 Reasons Why. The show, based on the 2007 novel 13 Reasons Why, features difficult real-life issues experienced by teens and young people, including sexual assault, substance abuse, suicide and more.
In conjunction with the series 2 premiere, The American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP) has released a Discussion Guide designed to provide parents with additional resources and a safe message to share with their children. Parents and guardians are encouraged to discuss these concerns to ensure their children are provided with the most accurate information regarding this very serious topic. Additional information and resources can be found at the AFSP site here.
As always, the CSAT Family Support Center offers a variety of services to both students and parents, including individual and family counseling, support and parenting groups and referrals and information for outside community resources.
