Internships Help Pave Road for Seniors
It was undoubtedly a busy year for the Business Department at the High School, who took CSAT's motto "Every Day is Career Day" to the next level this year.
Over 19 students participated in the internship program, four of them completing at least 108 hours and the rest finishing the year with 54 hours or more at local organizations. That is well over 6,800 hours! The program allows seniors to participate in on-the-job training in areas they are interested in learning more about. Organizations that participated included People Inc., Catholic Charities, Galleria Mall (security), Kenmore Mercy Hospital, etc and countless more.
There were also over 150 job shadows that took place during the course of the year, along with an etiquette lunch, mock interviews, and CSAT's first Speaker Series where over 20 professionals came in to speak to the upperclassmen.
Deja Triplette, a graduating senior who completed over 108 internship hours with over four health organizations said of the experience, "It helped me get my foot in the door; I will take this education with me as I go to college and continue my career pathway. I would recommend this program to any of my classmates." Deja is continuing her education in Biology at D'Youville College; she hopes to become a physican assistant.
