School Counseling Week (March 20 - 24) at the High School was welcomed with a very busy week of activities, prizes and contests!
The week started off with Inspirational Monday! Students were able to express and showcase what inspires them to be at their best by signing an inspiration wall with their favorite quote or person who inspires them, and fortune cookies were given out to students and staff, too.
Tuesday was College Day, with prizes galore! Aside from being dressed in their favorite college's apparel (both students and staff!), students filled out a College Exploration Worksheet that entered them to win some great prizes -- all in thanks to local and national colleges who donated on behalf of their schools. Prizes included hats, t-shirts, and hoodies. There was also a bulletin board dedicated to the seniors that showed where they are headed to college or a career next year.
To follow College Day was, of course, Career Day on Wednesday! Students in all grade levels participated in various career-oriented activities, including a career fair, and field trips to local organizations. Click here to learn more about the fun-filled day!
Thursday was marked as Student Appreciation Day. All students received a special treat during lunch, and were randomly selected for prizes that included items signed by the Buffalo Bills, Sabres and Bandits, tickets to Darien Lake and Adventure Landing, gift cards to Tim Horton's, Dunkin Donuts, 7-Eleven, Wendys, Chpotle, Ted's, Paula's Donuts, and much more!
To round out the week, Friday was Staff Appreciation Day. Welcomed with breakfast, staff were also up for random prizes as a way to say thank you for their hard work. Students also filled out thank you cards for a staff member that has impacted their lives.
The week ended on a high note with the Land a Job Contest. This year, CSAT had the privilege to partner with Forbes #2 company
to work for in America, Wegmans. CSAT and Wegmans created a process to identify an upperclassman student who would be an ideal candidate for
employment. After the internal CSAT application was completed, 15 candidates were interviewed by a Wegmans recruiter. After impressing employees at the Amherst store, three of those students were offered a part time job at Wegmans! Congratulations to Nyles Jones, Ikang Brown, and Jordan Workman-Smith.
Freshman also got into the action
as well, for a chance to obtain a position at the fictitious Errington's Eatery. Six students were selected to go through first and second interviews, with David Schwinger receiving the position. Also, congratulations to Shania
Dean-Smith, Mikaila Williams, Connor Batcho, and Abigail
Clayton for making it to the final round. Special thanks to Michelle Zappia from our Human Resources department for interviewing the students!
Needless to say, it was a busy week. Thank you to the wonderful Career & Counseling Center and the Counseling Week Committee for their hard work in planning such a great event!
