Career Convention a Success!

The High School hosted its fifth Career Convention on March 22 for 10 - 12th grade students, and a Day of Discovery for 9th graders, and what a success it was!

Striving to highlight the need for in demand careers in the area, companies from thriving industries, including the manufacturing and health fields, came in to speak to students about career options available in the community after high school. There were also local colleges/universities on hand to talk about their popular programs and the various educational opportunities available to students to prepare them for their chosen career field.

Sophomores participated in a Traveling Speaker Series that touched on health and wellness, college athletics, and career and colleges advice, while freshmen students participated in a Day of Discovery where they visited local colleges and companies on site.

While mingling with the professionals, students were also able to win gift cards through a scavenger hunt based on their demonstration of soft skills (firm handshake, eye contact, etc.). All students received a BINGO look-alike card and every vendor received a BINGO dot-dabber. When a student demonstrated a soft skill listed, the vendor was able to mark it on the BINGO card. All students that filled their card were entered into a drawing to win one of the four gift cards.

Thank you to all who came out to support us -- students, staff, vendors, colleges and universities. It was a great night! Below the picture gallery, you can see the list of participants from the event.
