The Charter School for Applied Technologies recently wrapped up the 13th Annual Celebration of Reading, a 3-day event which brought in over 120 community members to the Elementary School. The successful event had community volunteers as “Celebrity Readers” - reading to K-5 classrooms, talking about the importance of reading and education, and answering questions about their careers. Since the event began in 2006, over 1,400 Celebrity Readers have volunteered their time to read to our students.
The event is designed to show kids that successful people believe in the 'power of reading' and to motivate them to continue to read and stay in school. It is also a great way for students to learn about careers in WNY, because at CSAT, every day is career day!
