K-5 PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The K-5 PE program at CSAT strives to meet the National PE Standards to ensure our students are physically literate. The Society of Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) identify numerous competencies that physically literate individuals are capable of.
Key elements of SHAPE standards include: demonstrating competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns; apply knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance; demonstrate knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness; exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others; and recognizes the values of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and social interaction.
All students are repeatedly engaged in activities, challenges and games that expose, refine and improve students’ capacity across standards identified above. Due to developmental differences, students are grouped by grade level and evaluated differently.
